Famous Atheists

A lot of people throughout history haven't thought in a god or gods.  Famous atheists like Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins are well known.  There are lots of other famous men and women who also don't think in some of those gods.  Below is a brief list of famous atheists together with a brief biography.

Christopher Hitchens (1949) is a writer and journalist.  His novels included God isn't Good and The Missionary Position.   His latest publication is Hitch-22: A Memoir.

 Occasionally known in the media as "Darwin's Rottweiler", Dawkins is the writer of several books including the bestseller The God Delusion he makes the case that a supernatural creator probably doesn't exist.  In his most recent novel The best Show on Earth Dawkins lays out the evidence for biological evolution.  At its yearly summit Atheists Alliance International introduces the Richard Dawkins Award for an atheist that has been influential in raising public consciousness of atheism.

Sam Harris (1967) is a writer, neuroscientist and CEO of Job Reason.  His novels include The End of Religion and Letter to a Christian.  His third novel The Moral Landscape Harris asserts that science could be a source of morals.  Sam writes about many subjects such as science, religion, philosophy, and morality.

PZ Myers (1957) is a biology professor and writer of this site Pharyngula where he handles topics like creationism, Intelligent Design, science instruction, and atheism.   "

Penn and Teller are all magicians, comedians, illusionists and host of the tv series Bullshit!  Which deals with subjects like creationism, pseudoscience, alternative medication and animal rights.

James Randi (1928) is an writer, magician, and creator of the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF).  Randi frequently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and is the author of several novels such as The Truth About Uri Geller.

Gervais is the author of many children books such as Flanimals.

Jodie Foster (1962) is a performer, producer and film director.  Foster has starred in several movies such as Contact and The Silence of the Lambs.

Douglas Adams (1952  2001) was a writer who penned several novels such as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali (1969) is a writer, feminist, singer and singer of Islam.  She's the author of this New York Times best seller Infidel.

Peter Atkins (1940) is a writer and chemist.Bruce Lee (1940  1973) was a martial arts specialist, celebrity, film director, film producer, and creator of the Jeet Kune Do marital arts motion.

Dan Barker (1949) was a Christian preacher for 19 decades.  After departing Christianity Barker became an atheist and is the writer of these novels Godless and Losing Faith in Faith: From Preacher to Atheist.  

James Cameron (1954) is a manufacturer, movie director, editor, and screenwriter.  Cameron wrote and directed the movies Titanic and Avatar.

George Carlin (1937  2008) was a comedian, writer, and celebrity.  He also won a total of five Grammy awards and has been a regular performer on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

She has recorded seven solo albums and three books with the group Sugarcubes.

Sir Arthur Charles Clarke (1918  2008) was a science fiction author and inventor.  A number of the works include 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Fountains of Paradise.

Seth is famous for making the TV series Family Guy.  

Steven Pinker (1954) is a scientist, psychologist, writer, and linguist.  Pinker has written several novels such as Materials of Thought and The Blank Slate.

Daniel Radcliffe (1989) is a performer who's famous for his character playing Harry Potter in the movie collection.

Ron Reagan (1958) has been a radio show host and is presently a political pundit for MSNBC.
